
On January 21, 2026 , the Right Honourable Dr. Elijah T. Ngurare, Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia, received H.E. Abdelkrim Diaf, Ambassador of Algeria. The meeting focused on strengthening the excellent bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two brotherly countries in all fields.
NAMIBIA, ALGERIA EXPLORE DESERT FARMING SOLUTIONS: Namibia and Algeria are exploring practical agricultural solutions to pilot food security projects in the Namib Desert. As a desert nation, Algeria possesses extensive experience in managing agricultural projects in arid and semi-arid environments, expertise from which Namibia stands to benefit.
The two sides further exchanged bilateral opportunities ideas for collaboration in the areas of trade and investment, particularly in the sectors of mining, renewable energy, oil and gas.
This came to light when Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare received a courtesy visit from H.E. Abdelkrim Diaf, Ambassador of Algeria to Namibia on 21 January 2026.
Algeria is a long-standing friend of Namibian dating back to 1963. It was Algeria that gave the first weapon to the SWAPO Plan Fighters for the liberation of Namibia. Namibia will forever be indebted to Algeria.
On the multilateral front, the two countries reassured each other of the common position for their unwavering support for the people of Palestine and the Saharawi in their inalienable rights to determine their own future and establish sovereign states.
