As part of his participation in the High-Level Segment of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, today in New York held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

On this occasion, President Nandi-Ndaitwah asked the Minister of State to convey her greetings to the President of the Republic, H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and expressed her desire to work with him to further develop relations between the two countries, in keeping with the historic bonds forged through Algeria’s steadfast support for the Namibian people’s struggle for independence. For his part, the Minister of State conveyed President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s greetings to President Nandi-Ndaitwah and expressed his eagerness to work together with her to impart further momentum to the historic ties of friendship and solidarity binding the two sides.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the various dimensions and pillars of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Namibia and to explore ways to elevate them to their highest potential, in line with the strong resolve of the leaders of both countries to consolidate bilateral cooperation across all fields. The two sides also reviewed a number of current international and regional issues and underscored the need to continue close coordination in international fora in support of just causes in Africa and worldwide, foremost among them the question of Palestine and the decolonization of Western Sahara.
